The Journey Begins
Petr's passion for urban cycling didn't happen overnight. During his studies at the Czech Technical University in Prague, he became fascinated by how cities shape the way people move. That's what led him to focus on sustainable urban development — understanding that bikes aren't just transportation, they're the backbone of livable cities. After graduating in 2010, he knew exactly what he wanted to do: map out Prague's cycling potential.
Building Expertise at City Level
For five years, Petr worked with the Prague Institute of Planning and Development. He didn't just attend meetings — he was out on the streets documenting bike lanes, analyzing traffic patterns, and talking to cyclists about what actually works. His contributions to Prague's cycling master plan weren't theoretical. They were built on real data, real routes, and real conversations with riders. When the A2 cycling corridor project came around, his innovative documentation methods caught the attention of the Czech Cycling Union. That's when he realized something: cyclists and city planners needed better resources. They needed guides that went beyond maps.
Education Over Marketing
In 2015, Petr made a shift. He transitioned from government planning to content creation and education because he saw a gap. There were plenty of maps, but not many truly helpful guides to Prague's cycling infrastructure. At havornice s.r.o., he's built something different — educational resources that actually teach people how to navigate Prague's bike lanes safely and confidently. He doesn't just write about routes. He gets out there, tests them, talks to locals, and documents everything with the kind of detail that matters. Whether it's the quiet paths through Stromovka park or the modern efficiency of the bike-sharing programs, Petr's work reflects real experience.

Today, Petr regularly conducts field research on Prague's most popular cycling routes and collaborates with city officials to keep his content current.
